Great value, Easy Set-up

I just got this vacuum and honestly, I’m pretty happy with it for the price. Here’s how it’s been going so far.

Price: This thing is a steal. Works just as well as some of the more expensive ones I’ve had.

Set up: It took maybe 5 minutes to get it going, and I didn’t even need to look at the manual. Super easy to set up and start mapping.

Carpet: Does a great job picking up dog hair and dust on my low-pile carpet. Doesn’t miss a spot.

Thresholds: It goes over low doorways and small lips—no getting stuck.

Navigation: It uses structured light for obstacle avoidance, which is typically found in much higher-end models, and it really exceeded my expectations. The cleaning path is smooth, and it avoids furniture without bumping into anything. It just works.

Base station: Very hands-off. It docks and charges itself. Plus, I love how sleek and simple it looks.

Budget Vacuum Surprise

I wasn’t expecting much from a budget robot vacuum, but it really surprised me! I’ve owned a few high-end vacuums in the past, so I was skeptical about how this one would perform, especially given its price. But honestly, it handles my apartment like a pro. The suction power is great enough for my place. It picks up everything—pet hair, dust on both hardwood floors and the rug. The dock is simple to use, and the best part is I don’t have to worry about it too much. Just clean the mop pads every now and then, and that’s about it. The dustbin is large enough that I don’t have to empty it after every cleaning, which is a big time-saver. For someone like me, living alone with little time to clean, the Freo S is perfect. It gets the job done without the extra features of pricier models. If you want a reliable, budget-friendly vacuum, this is a great choice.

Effective vacuuming, light-duty mopping

First, realize this is mainly a vacuum that also does some light mopping, vs. a legit vacuum/mop combo unit. If you want serious scrubbing, then choose one of the other Narwal robots that has actual brush heads and liquid cleaner dispensing and rinsing (I have the Freo Z10 and it's great). But if you mostly need a vacuuming robot with a little extra capability for light-duty cleaning, this model could work out for you at a reasonable price point.

Very simple setup, just plug in the base unit and put the robot on to start charging. The Freo app will take you through linking to wi-fi and creating the initial floor map. Narwal units do an amazing job of creating a map of the space, even a complex set of rooms takes maybe 5 minutes. My attached photo shows a bathroom and bedroom.

You can set up a cleaning schedule, or run it manually (from the app or from the robot) when you want. NOTE: robot doesn't seem to understand time! I originally a schedule for 13:00 (1pm) and it woke me up running at Midnight; I changed it to 01:00 (1am) and it ran instead at Noon. Bizarre!

You get options for vacuum alone, mopping alone, or vacuum/mop. You can customize for blocking off certain areas. The mop feature relies on a half-circle size cloth pad that snaps onto the bottom of the unit, using water/cleaner from a small reservoir in the robot itself. The unit does a good job going around obstacles and under furniture.

I have this Narwal set to vacuum every other day, and I manually make it mop just the bathroom on the weekend. My bathroom floor doesn't get as dirty as a kitchen or living space would, so the smaller water reservoir and mop pad on this unit works well enough for my purpose. But again: if you want serious scrubbing then invest in a Narwal model with legit scrubber brush heads, separate clean/dirty water tanks, and an automatic cleaner dispenser.

One annoyance: the auto-empty feature is really convenient, but also super LOUD. If you set up a work schedule for this robot, make sure it's running at a time where the final "dirt blowing" function won't wake you up or disturb your Zoom meeting!

Bye, Daily Vacuuming! Freo S Delivers.

I was thrilled when my Freo S arrived! Unboxed it immediately for a weekend deep-clean. Tested on my crumb-and-pet-hair-covered floors—the 8,000Pa suction lifted embedded dirt in one pass, leaving carpets pristine.
The 3.5L self-emptying dustbag is a game-changer! According to the listing, it can hold debris for up to 180 days — but as a multi-pet household, I guess it lasts about 4-5 months before needing replacement. Still, that's WAY longer than my old vacuum. True hands-off freedom!
The app connected instantly. I scheduled cleanings around my routines, and its obstacle avoidance saved my floor plants.
Overall, this robot vacuum has made my life easier, and I'm thrilled with its performance. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a reliable, high-tech cleaner!
